Applying to Dayspring

Thank you for your interest in applying to Dayspring Christian Academy! This guide will help you in the application process, but if you have questions, please contact Karol Hasting, Admissions Director, at 717-285-2000 or khasting@hzbbzx.com.

Step 1:  Visit Dayspring

We are happy that you are exploring choices for your child’s education. On a visit with us, you will hear the joy in learning through the faces and voices of our young scholars. Peek into our classrooms on a tour or at an open house and see the way we engage in math, science, literature, Bible, art, history, and more.

Step 2: Apply Online

Apply Now

Complete and submit your child’s application. In the course of completing your child’s application, you also provide contact information for a principal recommendation and a pastoral recommendation.

Step 3: Interview and Testing

When Dayspring receives your child’s application, we schedule your family interview and an intake assessment for your child. The interview is  conducted in person at Dayspring Christian Academy with both parents and a team from Dayspring. Upper School students (grades 6-12) are a necessary part of the interview, as we seek to know the entire family better. Lower School students are invited but not required to attend.

The Admissions Office will also contact you to schedule testing as follows. This assessment allows us to see your child’s academic strengths and areas for growth.  Children entering…

  • Kindergarten are tested in small groups in March, April, and May.
  • 6th-12th grades complete their math placement testing and writing essay with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Grades 1-5 complete their math placement testing and writing essay with the Lower School Principal.

After all admissions requirements have been met, the Admissions Committee meets to determine acceptance. Families who receive an offer of admission are invited to enroll.

Step 4: Enrollment

After acceptance, parents confirm their child’s enrollment by returning the New Student Agreement and signing up for a tuition payment plan. Enrollment is completed when you sign the parent agreement and return it to Dayspring.

In August, students entering all grades will receive a letter from their homeroom teacher. You will also start receiving The Beacon through your email, which includes important dates about orientation, supply lists, Back to School Night, and the first days of school.
